You are invited to join Bread of Life Lutheran in worship on Sunday mornings at 9:30am.  As you enter the doors, ushers will help direct you to a seat in the west sanctuary (church).  There is no dress code, so feel free to wear whatever makes you comfortable.

There are other opportunities to join in worship at Bread of Life, as mid week services during the seasons of Lent and Advent.  Please check the calendar for these services.

What to Expect in Worship

You will be given a bulletin with the order of service, as well as weekly announcements.  The Bible readings for that Sunday are printed on the back cover of the bulletin so that you can follow along while they are being read, or have the opportunity to reread them at home.  The bulletin will direct you to which hymnal to use (Evangelical Lutheran Book of Worship – the red one, or With One Voice – the blue one).  When page numbers are given that refers to the page number in the front of the hymnal.  The large numbers are the hymn numbers, and they are printed on the top of the page.

Every Sunday, worship will follow a pattern:

  1. The Welcome –  we welcome you and God to our service
  2. The Word – we hear several readings from the Bible
  3. The Meal – Every Sunday we celebrate communion which is where everyone is invited forward to receive a small piece of bread and a small drink of wine or juice.  This is called a sacrament in the Lutheran church, which is a time where we celebrate the mystery of God’s presence in our lives. Everyone is welcome...children, non-lutherans, those new to the church...some folks will let you know when you can come up...and just experience God’s presence in your life
  4. The Sending – a way of saying GOODBYE.....now the real work begins of living faith in your family, job, school, and community

Every Sunday we collect an offering where people give money to financially support the ministry of the church. Many people are on PAR – Pre-authorized remittance – so money is debited monthly from their accounts. For others, they like the discipline of actually putting money in an envelope and putting it in the offering baskets when they are passed around. Either way is acceptable. Please do not feel obligated to give anything when you are visiting....just enjoy your time with us.

Children in Worship

At Bread of Life we love having children in worship.  We do recognize that it may be difficult for young children to sit through the worship service, so here are some helpful tips for parents:

-Bring along a snack or favourite toys.

-Sit up front where your kids can hear and watch.

-Encourage children to follow your lead and actions during worship.

-Feel free to walk babies across the back of the church or feed them.

-Outside the sanctuary (by the basement stairs) there are speakers for parents to hear the worship service while taking a “time-out” with their little ones.

-Near the back door is a small table with coloring books and crayons that children can make use of during the service.

-Relax!  God put the wiggle in your wee ones – don’t feel you have to suppress it in God’s house.
