At St. Philip we provide assistance in celebrating those special moments in every family's life such as baptisms or weddings, and we provide a supportive role during the sadness of death. These are the roles which so many have valued enormously over the years. It is at these times of greatest emotion, perhaps, when our earthly values appear least reliable, that we seem to turn most often to face God. Members of the congregation visit the homes of the elderly and the lonely as well as those who are sick. Home communion is available for those who are not able to come to the Church. There are strong links with children at our church school. We offer bible studies, family worship, marriage preparation courses, Christian basics discussion groups, First Communion and confirmation classes. We take seriously our responsibility to try to teach Christian values to those who are willing to listen. Staying connected with St. Philip members, Living Spirit Centre members, the wider Anglican community and the community as a whole is an important part of who we are at St. Philip. Some of this is done through social events and gatherings. Our regular newsletters and e-mail updates, weekly pew bulletins, and bulletin board information are just a few ways we try to keep everyone informed of events, programs and activities. We also provide celebration of church festivals with our partner parishes, services of remembrance, prayer meetings, parish picnics, community outreach activities, and links with other Anglican parishes and community groups. We have established a significant link and valued relationship with the Al Ritchie Health area, and with Habitat for Humanity. All of these serve to enrich the lives of our parish members. Worship:There is a psalm that talks about being in the "house of the Lord" as better than being anywhere else. That is what we work toward at St. Philip. We are a place:
St. Philip provides opportunity for laughter and companionship. We continually strive to:
